The Throat is the fifth chakra. It's color is blue and it is located in the neck. The aspect of consciousness of the Throat is communication, how well we can communicate with others and ourselves. It covers our ability to speak our truths.

The endocrine gland associated with the Throat chakra is the Thyroid. It controls the bronchial and vocal apparatus, lungs, and alimentary canal.

Chakra:

Chakra refers to the 7 main energy systems in the human body. They function as pumps and valves regulating the flow of our energy system. They act as perceptual filters for how we chose to experience the world. When our chakras are in balance we are enjoying life fully, but when our energy centers become blocked we feel tired, drained and unable to effectively deal with our emotions and daily responsibilities as we would like to.

Chakras are not physical, they are aspects of consciousness. All senses, perceptions and possible states of awareness can be divided into 7 categories. The chakras then interact with the physical body through the 7 endocrine glands and the nervous system. If our vital flow of life force energy is interrupted for too long, dis-ease will eventually manifest in the physical body.
